Passive but Active

Back to the Main Page

‘The story talks about the imaginations of people, who are very passive and cannot come out to the world. Exaggerating and very actively expressing the imagination, it leads their imaginations to become their reality. This story includes those days in memories full of fantasy and righteousness.'

[Passive but active] encourages and cheers Otakus; geeks with obsessive interests or particular aspects of popular culture to the detriment of their social skills who are also easily ignored from the society. The piece is also a letter that sends thanks and respects to them. In the piece, four dancers try to tell the story through ‘geek’ characters. These characters keep madly passionate mind inside and hide the sadness of not being able to share their passion with the others. They are together but feels lonely. They seek their ways to be included while feeling ignored. In the piece, dancers look for ways to approach the others keeping all these feelings inside.

What kinds of figures would be out if the passive things came out actively? The piece realized that figures. Dance is the safest emotional purifier and a tool of sublimation as well. Do all we have both ‘passive’ and ‘active’ sides? I could also find out ‘passive’ parts in my mind."

They put their will which put a gap of passive ‘geek’ people and active ‘common’ people on stage. It was shown various imagination in the piece. Space sometimes led the audience to have an imagination, sometimes like the reality. It was like two sides of the same coin that both shows comicality and seriousness, a witticism and trouble.
